Thimpu, the capital of Bhutan has a unique blend of the modern and ancient culture. The modern and developed town is surrounded by the ancient temples. Thimpu festival is the celebration of the teachings of Guru Rinpoche, in which mask dance is the most attractive and is attended by thousands of local people.

Thimpu festival is one of the biggest festivals of Bhutan which is held in the capital city, Thimpu. Before starting the actual festival, nearby Dzongkhags conducts days and nights of prayers and rituals to appeal to the gods. This festival is celebrated in the honor of Guru Rinpoche, one who brought the Buddhism to Bhutan. During the festival, Bhutanese dressed in the finest clothes come from all over. It is believed that one who witnesses the festival will confer with luck and will gain merits and their wishes get realized.

This festival can be called as the festival of dance, most dances in the program have religious significance. Dance performed in the festival celebrates the faith, myths, legends, and history of Bhutan. By observing the festival, you can easily understand the cultural legacy history and the religious beliefs followed and preserved for centuries. This festival is a very good way of witnessing the culture, lifestyle, and religion of Bhutanese.

Day 1

Arrive Kathmandu.

You will be transferred to the hotel from Tribhuwan International airport by our airport representatives.

Day 2

Kathmandu Tour.

You will get to visit beautiful and religious places of Kathmandu like: Kathmandu Durbar Square, Boudhanath, Shyambhunath and Pashupatinath.

Day 3

Fly to Bhutan and drive to Thimphu.

Day 4

Thimphu Tshechu Festival.

Participate in the Thimphu Tshechu Festival held outside the courtyard of Tashichho dzong it is the festival in honour of Guru Rimpoche, the saint who brought Buddhism to Himalaya and Bhutan.

Day 5

A scenic drive to Punakha.

Today you will visit punakha dzong, also known as Pungtang Dechen. Photrang Dzong overnight is spent in Punakha.

Day 6

Drive back Paro via Thimpu.

You will get to visit the Memorial Chorten, built in honour of the third King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck and will also visit the Folk Heritage Museum.

Day 7

Hike to Taktsang Monastery.

The tour group will hike to Taksang which (3 – 4 hrs / 900m) in the morning and visit farm house in the afternoon.

Day 8

Drive to the airport and fly back to Kathmandu.

Day 9

Final Departure to your home.
