Day 1

Arrival Paro - Punakha (3Hrs & 30mins)

Once you arrive at Paro international Airport, Nepal Royal Tourism Holiday will welcome you and you will be driven to the old capital of Bhutan, Punakha by private car/bus. On your way to Punakha, stop at Dochula Pass for coffee and admire the 108 stupas. If the sky is clear, enjoy the view of Mt. Himalaya. Afterward, have lunch at Am Toep Zam Farm house teobesa. Then go to Punakha Dzong  (Punakha fortress)a very beautiful Bhutanese architectural masterpiece located at the confluence of the Pho Chu and Mo Chu rivers, and houses rich Buddhist collections. You will also visit Suspension Bridge  (the longest bridge in Bhutan) nearby.

Day 2

Punakha - Bumthang 7-8hrs drive

After breakfast, drive towards bumthang visit the huge and historical Trongsa Dzong  and the watchtower above the main Dzong. It has a fine temple at the top containing original Mongol Armour and a large prayer wheel outside. Afternoon drive to Jakar for 3 hours. Enroute cross over Yotong La 3420m, then descend into a place called Getsa where you can see the Domkhar Tashicholing Monastry It is 10 minute’s walk from the road to the monastery. Walk back to the transport and continue drive to Chumey valley, the first of four Bumthang valleys. In Chumey, visit Yathra Weaving (a Colorful wool weaving). From Chumey, it’s another 30minutes drive to Jakar the center of Bumthang valleys.

Bumthang valley is considered one of the most sacred in the kingdom and innumerable legends surround the area. It is here that the kings were cremated and the present royal families trace their ancestry back to a famous saint called Pemalingpa, who was also a smith in Jakar ownship.

Bumthang sightseeing

After b/fast explore Bumthang Valley visit, oldedt temple Jampa Lhakhang, Tamzhing Monastery, After lunch Visit Jakar fortress and and kurje lhakhang and then free time in chamkhar town, shopping etc.

Bumthang to Phobjikha following the same route (5-6hrs drive)

After our delicious breakfast, we will go on a drive to the valley of black necked cranes. Visit Gangey Gonpa and black necked crane center where you will get better idea and information about this endangered bird of Bhutan which migrates from Tibetan plateau to Phobjikha in every winter.

Day 5

Phobjikha- Thimphu (3hrs& 30mins drive)

Moring drive towards Thimphu and visit Buddha point, takin zoo (national animals), Dupthop nunnary, CSI Market where you can buy our Bhutanese products and to memorial stupa,free time in Thimphu town.Later visit in evening visit Thimphu Dzong (Tashichho Dzong), the largest religious building in Thimphu as well as the central administrative center (open after 5 pm, Monday to Friday).

Day 6

Thimphu to Paro

This morning drive to paro and, hike to visit Taktsang at 3000m from sea level – (Tiger’s Nest- built in 1691 by Second Buddha, Padma Sambava – It said that Padma Sambava flew on Tigress to the cliff where currently temple is located), be amazed by the view of this Sacred temple hanging on the rocky cliff, and take in the beauty of Paro valley. After that, move to the ruins of Drukgyel Dzong, built to commemorate Bhutan’s victory over. The Tibetan invaders. If in good weather, you’ll see a great distant view of Mt. Jhomolhari.

Free time in Paro town, Evening visit Bhutanese farm house and try Bhutanese dinner, also try wearing our national dress (Gho for man and Kira for ladies)

Day 7

Excursion to Haa Valley

After your b/fast drive towards Haa valley through highest chelela pass (3980m) if weather is clear, you can see the mount peak called Jomo lhari (7314m) also clear mountain. Later visit white and black temple (Lhakhang karpo & Nakpo) and have lunch and later explore Haa town and evening back to paro.

Day 8

Final Departure

Goodbye to Bhutan today. After breakfast we will escort you to the airport for your departure to your country or Nepal.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. All foreign travelers (other than Indian, Bangladeshi, and Maldivian citizens) must obtain a Bhutan tourist visa which is done through a licensed Bhutan tour operator. Once your trip is confirmed Nepal Royal Tourism will help you with the visa process. Indian nationals will require a valid passport/voter ID and an entry permit.

The Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) is a contribution towards the government of Bhutan providing free healthcare, education, protection of the environment, and cultural preservation. This fee is compulsory and the amount is per night payable, as stipulated by the Royal Government of Bhutan. At the time of reservation, you will be informed of the current SDF rate.

Generally, the most favorable seasons are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November, when there are clear skies, the temperatures are nice, and the views of the mountains are incredible. During winter (December–February), it is chilly but very suitable for the black-necked cranes’ watching in Phobjikha, whereas the summer (June–August) is green and gets some rain.

To reach Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest Monastery) one will have to take a moderate walk that will approximately take 4–5 hours of a round trip. It is a well-kept trail and for a part of the uphill walk you can hire ponies. With resting breaks, even average people can do the hike comfortably.

Accommodation is provided in comfortable, government-approved 3-star hotels or equivalent which means the rooms will be clean, you will have a private bathroom, and the hospitality will be of a Bhutanese style. If you request one, there can be an upgrade, 4-star or luxury hotels.

The tour features Bhutanese, Indian, and continental food. Also you will be offered the opportunity to eat at the local market such as Ema Datshi, Bhutanese cheese chili, locally-grown rice, and farm-fresh meals at traditional Bhutanese farmhouses. By prior notice, vegetarian and other dietary requirements can be fulfilled.

All the transportation is provided by a private, comfortable vehicle (car, SUV, or bus depending on the size of the group) complete with an experienced local driver. Long journeys are made relaxed and fun by various stops, sightseeing, and a lunch break.
