Leading you straight to one of the most sacred and mystical corners of the Kathmandu valley located near the Tibetan border, the Bhairav Kunda Trek is a journey that combines divinity with adventure. It is a lesser-known trekking destination in Nepal. Bhairav Kund is named after the fierce form of Lord Shiva (Bhairav).
It holds significant religious value for the Shamans as well as the Hindus and Buddhists who visit it to pay their respects and wash away their sins during every Bhadra Full Moon, making it an important spot in both the Hindu and Buddhist religions. Apart from the spiritual side of things, these trekking days will also be full of adventure and thrills. A number of tourists come to this trek not only to see the typical Nepali lifestyle but also to enjoy the breathtaking views of the Himalayas.
This trek to Bhairav Kunda offers magnificent sights of the Rolwaling, Jugal Himal, and some Tibetan mountains too. The trail is a perfect mix of nature at its purest state, culture that hasn’t changed by modernization, and grand views of the Himalayas. Bhairav Kunda, which is located at an altitude of approximately 4,250 meters above sea level, is one of the prominent Hindu pilgrimage sites of Nepal. Bhairav Kunda trek trail is a rich mixture of cultural heritage, magnificent scenery and biological and traditional varieties. Bhairav Kunda trekking route starts from Jalbire and ends at Larche from where you will drive back to Kathmandu. Along the whole, many villages mainly inhabited by Newars, Gurungs, and Sherpa will be visible. The trail will also take you through dense alpine forests primarily made of Rhododendron and oak that are home to many endangered animals such as the snow leopard, red panda, Himalayan black bear, etc.
