Dolpo Trek
The Dolpo Trek is one of Nepal’s most remote and memorable trekking experiences, taking you through the wild landscapes of western Nepal. Located in Dolpa District, the region includes famous places such as Shey Phoksundo Lake, Ringmo Village, Dho Tarap, Saldang, Shey Gompa, Dunai, Tarakot, and Juphal. The trail crosses high passes like Numa La and Baga La, with dramatic mountain views, deep valleys, and a landscape that feels very different from the rest of Nepal. Dolpo is also known for its strong Tibetan Buddhist culture, ancient monasteries, prayer walls, and traditional villages where life still follows a simple mountain rhythm. The region is split into Lower Dolpo and Upper Dolpo, with Upper Dolpo being especially remote and less visited. Treks here are longer, quieter, and more challenging, but they offer a rare chance to experience untouched nature and authentic Himalayan culture. For trekkers looking for something isolated, scenic, and truly off the beaten path, Dolpo is one of Nepal’s finest adventures.
