Trek to Ghorepani Poon Hill is a short trek to the Annapurnas. Ghorepani trekking is popular for the incredible scenery and the beautiful ethnic villages. The trek includes walking through the streams passing forest and will finally lead close to nature. The main advantage of this trek is its easiness since it does not involve high climbing. The trek does not possess the risk of altitude sickness.
The trek to Ghorepani poon Hill starts after taking an hour of drive from Pokhara passing through Modi Khola. Overpassing the suspension bridge over Modhi Khola the trek will ascend through ethnic villages enjoying the views of Machhapuchare between the hills. Next day trek will walk through woods before reaching Ghorepani hill. Next morning an early climb to the nearby Poon hill will be done for the majestic view of the Annapurna, Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri and other various famous mountains of that region.
Ghorepani being densely forested with rhododendron and surrounded by mountains provides a breathtaking view of scenic beauty. During spring, it is densely surrounded by the blossoming colorful Rhododendron which gives a majestic panoramic view of the land. The most excitement of this trip is to climb on Poon Hill which is most probably the spectacular mountainscape on Earth. When the early sunrise touches the snow-capped summits of the Mountains like Dhaulagiri and Annapurna along with some other peaks, some unbelievable and exceptional view catches the eyes.
Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek ~ Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival at Kathmandu
Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be transferred to your hotel. In the afternoon, you will be invited to visit our office for a briefing about the daily program.
Day 2
Take a drive or flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara.
From Kathmandu, you can either drive or fly to Pokhara. By road, it’s approximately 200km and takes 5-6 hours, while flying takes just 30 minutes. Upon arrival in Pokhara, you can walk around Lakeside and stay overnight there.
Day 3
Drive from Pokahara to Nayapul then trek to Tirkhe Dhunga take overnight rest. (1530 m)
After breakfast, we’ll begin our trek with a 2-hour drive to Nayapul, from where we’ll start our trek to Hille, and then continue onwards to Tikhe Dughga.
Day 4
Move from Tikhe Dhunga to Ghorepani. (2800 m)
We’ll trek to a large Magar Village called Ulleri, passing through pastures and cultivated fields, as well as rhododendron and oak forests. From there, we’ll proceed to Nangethanti and then continue trekking to Ghorepani through the forest.
Day 5
Trek from Ghorepani to Poon Hill and then to Thadapani. (2700 m)
We will hike to Poonhill (3210m), where you can enjoy panoramic mountain views and a beautiful sunrise. After spending some time there, we will trek down to Ghorepani for breakfast, then continue trekking to Tadapani.
Day 6
Trek from Tadhapani to Ghandruk. (1940 m) then drive back to Pokhara
The trek starts to Ghandruk after breakfast, leading to the prominent Gurung village called Ghandruk. It is one of the most fascinating tribal Gurung villages in Nepal, known for providing Gorkha soldiers and offering excellent close-up views of Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre, and Himachuli. You can spend a day exploring Ghandruk village before returning to Pokhara by drive.
Day 7
Finally return back to Kathmandu.
You can either fly or drive back to Kathmandu.
Day 8
Final departure
Upon your arrival at the airport, we will arrange transportation to Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).
