The traditional Tibetan village of Samagaun, located on a beautiful wide valley surrounded by the Himalayas, offers an unforgettable experience to the visitors. The village is located at about 3500m and therefore spending a day here will help you adjust your body to the oxygen shortage at altitude. Furthermore, it gives you an opportunity to absorb southeastern aspect of the breathtaking scenery surrounding the village and the peaceful atmosphere. Hiking to the Birendra Lake Manaslu Base Camp trails or going to the monastery would be beneficial. Dharmasala is the typical basic seasonal place where trekkers and herders preparing for the Larkya La passing gather. Dramatic in its setting, it leaves an impression despite its simplicity. One of the most satisfying days of your trek is today as crossing Larkya La only gives very few people on earth the opportunity to witness the panoramic vistas of glaciers, sharp rugged mountain ridges, and Nepal’s best high-altitude scenes. Colorful prayer flags and spinning prayer wheels embellish the area, lending the pass an untamed, energetic atmosphere. The scenery changes abruptly after you descend to the normally green valleys. Forests begin to reappear, and the vibe becomes softer and more serene. Bhimthang, located in an alpine meadow surrounded by mountains, rivers, and pine forests, offers a perfect setting that contrasts with the harsh beauty of the high pass.

As you descend, the air becomes warmer and the environment changes noticeably from the high Himalayan wilderness to fertile lower valleys. Small settlements begin to appear again, where locals continue traditional farming and mountain life. Colorful prayer flags, mani walls, and small monasteries reflect the spiritual culture of the region. Continuing along the path, the valley narrows dramatically, creating stunning views of steep cliffs and snow-covered peaks. • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
  • Accommodation: Tea House

A little further, the Marsyangdi River is seen in its flow below your feet whilethe Himalayan Mountains are quite huge and majestic to the eyes. With the broadening of the valley, you’ll get your first clear views of Annapurna II, making the scenery even more spectacular as the surrounding peaks come into full perspective. Upper Pisang is an old typical Tibetan village situated on the hillside above the valley. Its Tibetan culture is still very much alive even in its monastery, old stone houses and the whole mountains scenery is spectacular- with a distant, remote, and timeless feeling to it.

Day 16

Trek from Upper Pisang to Manang

  • Distance: 16 km (Trek)
  • Duration: 7 hours
  • Altitude: 3519 m
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
  • Accommodation: Tea House

Today, you are following the upper trail which is very famous for not only its views that look like postcards and are breathtaking but also its authentic local culture.

As you go through villages such as Ghyaru and Ngawal, you’ll discover several perspectives of the Annapurna mountain range and the nearby valleys, each bordered by massive walls of rock. These villages are still very much based on Tibetan Buddhism evidenced by the monasteries, prayer wheels, and the most ancient stone pathways. The area of the approach to Manang gets dryer, more mountainous, and man gets dirty quite often by the winds which tells you this is a rain-shadow region of the Himalayas. Manang itself is a lovely mountain village nestling within a broad valley that has a good Himalayan view.

Day 17

Rest Day in Manang

  • Altitude: 3519m
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
  • Accommodation: Tea House

If you want to slow down the pace of your mountain life, staying a day in Manang is just perfect. The lace is surrounded by the mountains, glaciers, and the open airs and that make the other parts of the village unsightly and offering several beautiful short hikes and cultural experiences. You can either visit Gangapurna Lake that is neighboring the area, check out the monasteries or walk up to the viewpoints and be mesmerized by the vastness of the Annapurna range. Manang is considered among the region’s most notable Himalayan villages, a stop well-loved by those who come before crossing Thorong La. Local bakeries, teahouses, and traditional homes give the village a lively yet peaceful atmosphere. Today is a day for both physical acclimatization and total immersion into the wonders found throughout Annapurna.

Day 18

Trek from Manang to Yak Kharka

  • Distance: 10 km (Trek)
  • Duration: 3-4 hours
  • Altitude: 4110m
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
  • Accommodation: Tea House

The path from Manang to Yak Kharka leads gradually into a very quiet and beautiful alpine area. The plants get less and less once you go up above the tree line until you finally reach the grazing land by your favorite animal’s yaks and blue sheep. In this kind of environment, it is easy to get unaware of any human presence and just enjoy the scenery of big rocky slopes, glaciers, and endless mountains that hug the horizon. Fewer people travel this section now, and villages give way to wide stretches of untouched wild land. Yak Kharka, traditionally used by Mongolian herders during warm months, is a compact settlement. Spacious and surrounded by rough mountains and skies that are huge, Yak Kharka can become a good overnight stop and place where you get a strong sense of the Himalayas.

Day 19

Trek from Yak Kharka to Thorong Phedi

  • Distance: 7 km (Trek)
  • Duration: 3-4 hours
  • Altitude: 4450m
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
  • Accommodation: Tea House

Day’s trail will take you above the cloud and pick them one at a time by reaching the top on Thorong Phedi. You may encounter that today the way out from the base toward the pass will be difficult in terms of sharp angles, narrow parts, and very steep areas. By passing the cliff occupied by the small settlement of Thorong Phedi, we here come to the last stop before the great and well-known first step on the pass morning that those who try the next day will stay in this small hut surrounded by the huge forest of rocks!

Day 20

Crosses Thorong La (5416 m) and goes down to Muktinath

  • Distance: 15 km (Trek)
  • Duration: 7-8  hours
  • Altitude: 3762 m
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
  • Accommodation: Tea House

Today is the day of accomplishment. Sure, you have to get up very early to handle this, especially as it is such a taxing climb but then it will remain an unforgettable milestone and also one of your proudest achievements. The feeling of getting to the pass is like having been given the key to the whole wide world surrounding you with mountain peaks through the eyes of a Buddha and then all these different-colored flags in the wind are like the whales of the sky. The reward is what continues to be the main scene in your mind.

Day 21

Drive from Mukthinath to Pokhara

  • Distance: 170 km (By Bus)
  • Duration: 8-9 hours
  • Altitude: 822 m/2697 ft

Positions on the rough mountain sides rapidly give way to greener hills, forests, and fertile farmland as you continue the road. The change is quite remarkable and provides a reminder of Nepal’s amazing geographical diversity. After days spent exploring the mountains, Pokhara almost feels surreal. It is situated near the beautiful Phewa Lake and surrounded by the Himalayan views, offering a combination of comfort, relaxation, and a laid-back lakeside atmosphere.

Day 22

Drive back to Kathmandu from Pokhara
