Helambu Circuit Trek-2026 ~ Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival in Kathmandu (1350m)
Our airport representative will meet you at the arrivals hall of Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu. They will be holding a sign with the name Nepal Royal Tourism Holiday Pvt ltd. A private car will then take you to the hotel of your choice. Also, if you want to get a better understanding of Helambu Circuit Trek Itinerary, you can always stop by our office for a pre-trip meeting.
Day 2
Drive from Kathmandu (1350m) to Sundarijal (1460m) then trek to Chisapani (2165m)
You will start your Helambu Circuit Trek today. Once you have had your tasty breakfast at your hotel, you will get on a vehicle that will take you to Sundarijal. Here, you will get to see a pretty section of oak and rhododendron woodland. Besides that, Sundarijal has quite lovely waterfalls, making it very suitable for a picnic outing. The first part of the trail from Sundarijal is along a steep slope turning into a forest path. After hiking for about an hour, you will get to the gate of Shivapuri National Park. Then you will find a flight of narrow steps that will take you to Mulkharka.
The way to Chisapani from here passes through rural farm fields, cool woodlands, and the beautiful village of Borlang Bhanjyang. Chisapani ranks among the top short-hiking destinations close to Kathmandu Valley. In fact, from Chispani you can get lovely views of a range of mountains including Jugal Himal, Ganesh Himal, Himal Chuli, Gauri Shanker, Rolwaling, Dorje Lakpa, and many peaks from the Langtang Himalas and Gauri Shanker Himalas range. Also, you can see the valleys below and the sunrise which is another plus.
Day 3
Trek from Chisapani (2165m) to Kutumsang (2470m)
At sunrise, from Chisapani, you can enjoy an awe-inspiring 360-degree view of the Langtang Himal range if the sky is clear. Today, as the Helambu Circuit Trek route can be seen on the map, the trail will take a downhill path to the quaint village Pati Bhanjyang, crossing beautiful meadows and farmland along the way. After a stroll through the farming communities, you will reach the Sherpa settlement of Thankune Bhanjyang which is set in beautiful scenery. Further down the trail, terraced farming will appear beside woodlands and trails.
Passing the Sherpa settlement of Chipling, you will head for the Tamang villages of Thotung and Golphu Bhanjyang. Your next step will be to climb for another 1.5 hours through the forest to be at the top of a ridge, From this ridge to Kutumsang, it will be another 45 minutes of downslope hike. Walking through a village with beautifully traditional houses and thickly misty hills, you are finally at the end of your day in Kutumsang. This place has an amazing view of the pyramid-shaped peak of Dorje Lhakpa.
Day 4
Trek from Kutumsang (2470m) to Melamchigaon (2530m)
Todays hike to Thadepati Bhanjyang involves mainly an ascent of over 1200 meters. Thadepati is the highest point on the Helambu Circuit Trek Itinerary. Initially you will be on the ridgeline of Yurin Danda hike. After a while, you will be able to see Langtang range, Gosaikunda peak and Jugal Himal for the first time from the trail. The steep path will take you finally to Mera Danda. You will then make a short descent to Mangengoth, a very small village.
After the Thare Danda ridge, it will not be long before you reach Tharepati. The most beautiful and amazing panoramic views of the Langtang Ranges can be seen from Tharepati. Moving up, you will get to a ridge that is slightly higher than the village. There are few better places for watching the sunrise than here. After that, you will go eastward and come to an ancient pine forest through which you will descend steeply. Sticking to the path, you will find yourself on the spine of a ridge. Further down is Melamchi Gaon which is a large Sherpa settlement.
Day 5
Trek from Melamchigaon (2530m) to Sermathang (2590m)
Today, first, you will be making a descent from Melamchi Gaon to Melamchi Khola. Then, you will finally reach Tarkeghyang by walking through a string of Buddhist villages namely Nakote, Dozum, and Chiri. This place, which is named after the monastery located here, is also the oldest in Helambu region. These villages are characterized by a large concentration of houses located very close to each other. They will present you with a picture of western Nepali villages.
Following Tarkeghyang, the Helambu Circuit Trek Route will turn towards the southwest direction. You will be gradually moving over forested routes with undulating slopes. When you arrive at Setighyang, you will also be passing some small streams, fields, and quaint little villages. With more trekking, you will finally be in Ghangyul. Sermathang is a beautiful village which you will finally reach after 4 to 5 hours of trekking. There are three large gompas in Sermanthang. Jugal Himal, Dorje Lakpa, and Gaurishankar can all be spotted from Sermanthang and these views are stunning.
Day 6
Trek from Sermathang (2590m) to Melamchi Pul Bazaar (870m)
After having a long and relaxing moment breakfast in Shermathang, you will start your walk by going down through the rice fields and large green meadows. The villages of Kakani and Thimbu are two very popular destinations. As you leave the village of Sermanthang, you will be walking through the subtropical vegetation which will also change along with the journey. Passing a few bridges, you will enter Melamchi Pul Bazaar which is a Sherpa settlement. A few small villages with chortens and mani walls can also be seen on the way here. 5 to 6 hours will separate you from Sermanthang and Melamchi Pul. If there is a need, this place can be your accommodation zone by the way since there are guesthouses available there. From here, you will be connecting to your mode of transportation because Melamchi Pul Bazaar has road connection.
Day 7
Drive from MelamchiPul Bazaar (870m) to Kathmandu (1350m)
You will travel for five hours to get to Kathmandu from Melamchi Pul Bazaar. Your final view of Nepal’s beautiful hills and you’ll pass by terraced farmland on your way back to Kathmandu, before actually reaching the Tibet-Nepal Arniko Highway, the first portion of the trip will be on a dirt road. Dhulikhel, a Newar settlement on the eastern rim of the Kathmandu Valley ,is reached after one hour of the journey along the highway. On your approach to Kathmandu from Dhulikhel, you will pass through other towns including Banepa and Bhaktapur. When you return to Kathmandu, spend some time checking into your accommodation and getting a bit fresher. You will then venture outside to shop and explore Kathmandu. After completing your Helambu Circuit Trekking excursion, you might spend the evening enjoying Thamel’s lovely nightlife.
Day 8
Final Departure
Your Helambu Circuit Trekking concludes today. When it’s time for your flight when it’s time to go, one of our team will be happy to assist you in getting to the airport.
