- Travel Distance: 80 km
- Trek Duration: 4 to 5 hours
- Trek Distance: 9 km

- Accommodation: Teahouse in Ghandruk
Following breakfast, leave Pokhara behind with a short scenic drive to the traditional Gurung village of Ghachok, the official gateway to the Machhapuchhre Model Trek. After meeting the trekking crew and making final preparations, begin trekking through terraced farmland before gradually entering beautiful forests of oak, bamboo, and rhododendron. The peaceful trail passes scattered grazing pastures and small seasonal settlements before reaching Hile Kharka, a quiet mountain meadow surrounded by forest. The evening offers the first peaceful overnight experience inside the Annapurna Conservation Area.

- Altitude: 3,245 m
- Trek Duration: 5 to 6 hours
- Trek Distance: 10 km
- Meal: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
- Accommodation: Teahouse in Chhomrong
Today’s trail steadily gains elevation through dense rhododendron, pine, and oak forests, gradually leaving the lower woodlands behind. As you climb higher, the vegetation begins to thin and spectacular mountain scenery slowly opens ahead. Reaching Kumai Danda rewards you with magnificent panoramic views of Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Mardi Himal, and several surrounding peaks. Sunrise and sunset from Kumai Danda are among the finest viewpoints on the entire trek, making it an unforgettable overnight stop.
Day 5
Trek from Khumai Danda to Korchan Danda and ejoy Macchapuchhre Model Trail Views
- Altitude: 3,699 at Korchan
- Trek Duration: 3 to 4 hours
- Trek Distance: 9 km
- Meal: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
- Accommodation: Teahouse near Korchen
A shorter but more demanding day that makes the push to Korchan Danda at 3,699 metres, the highest point of the entire trek. The trail leaves the Khumai ridge and climbs through increasingly exposed terrain where the gradient steepens before the Korchan plateau opens. The panorama from Korchan is the widest view available on the route: Machhapuchhre directly in the foreground, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Mardi Himal, Annapurna II, and Lamjung Himal spread across the northern horizon in a full width sweep. The sunrise the following morning from this ridge is worth waking early for.
Day 6
Trek from Korchan Danda to Takru
- Altitude: 1,450 m
- Trek Duration: 6 to 7 hours
- Trek Distance: 12 to 14 km
- Meal: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
- Accommodation: Teahouse near Korchan Danda
An early start from Korchan catches the dawn light on the Annapurna range before the long descent begins. The trail drops steeply from the ridge through the upper forest zone before the gradient eases into the lower valley terrain. The altitude loss of over two thousand metres makes this the most physically demanding descent day of the trek, with the knees feeling the sustained downhill particularly in the steep upper section. Takru at 1,450 metres arrives in the afternoon with noticeably warmer air and the familiar sounds of a lower altitude farming settlement after three days on the high ridge.
Day 7
Trek from Takru to Lwang
- Altitude: 1,460 m
- Trek Duration: 5 to 6 hours
- Trek Distance: 10 to 12 km
- Meal: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
- Accommodation: Teahouse near Korchan Danda
The final trekking day moves through lower Gurung settlements and the forested valley terrain before arriving at Lwang, the cultural highlight of the descent section. Lwang has developed a community tourism model that other villages in the Annapurna Conservation Area point to as an example, and the organic tea gardens terraced into the hillsides around the village are the most visible result of that effort. A visit to the tea production facility, a cup of fresh Lwang tea, and an evening in the community lodge with the families who run it gives the final trekking day a conclusion that the high ridge section cannot provide on its own.
Day 8
Drive from Lwang to Pokhara
- Altitude: 822 m
- Travel Duration: 2 to 3 hours
- Travel Distance: Approx. 35 km
- Meal: Breakfast and Lunch
- Accommodation: Standard Three-Star Hotel in Pokhara
A vehicle meets the group in Lwang for the drive back to Pokhara. The route descends through the lower valley and joins the main Pokhara road, with the Annapurna range visible above the ridgelines on the northern horizon during the approach. Arriving in Pokhara by mid morning, the rest of the day is entirely free. The contrast between seven days on community lodge diet at altitude and a full Lakeside restaurant menu is one of those small pleasures that a trekking return always provides.
Day 9
Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu
- Altitude: 1,350 m
- Travel Duration: 7 to 8 hours
- Travel Distance: 200 km
- Meal: Breakfast and Lunch
- Accommodation: Standard Three-Star Hotel in Thamel
Following breakfast, begin the scenic return drive to Kathmandu along the Prithvi Highway. Passing rivers, terraced hillsides, and traditional villages, the journey offers one final opportunity to enjoy Nepal’s beautiful countryside. After arriving in Kathmandu, transfer to your hotel and spend the evening shopping for souvenirs, visiting nearby cultural sites, or celebrating the successful completion of your trekking adventure with your fellow travellers.

The trek requires an Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP). Depending on the latest government regulations, a TIMS Card may also be required. Nepal Royal Treks arranges all necessary permits before the trek begins.
Since the highest elevation is 3,699 metres, the risk of serious altitude sickness is relatively low. The itinerary includes a gradual ascent, allowing most trekkers to adapt comfortably while staying well hydrated and maintaining a steady pace.
Both treks offer spectacular mountain scenery, but the Machhapuchhre Model Trek is significantly quieter and focuses on community tourism, authentic Gurung culture, and peaceful trails.
