Day 1

Nagarkot Sunrise and Bhaktapur Durbar Square Sightseeing

An early morning drive takes you to Nagarkot, a hilltop viewpoint on the eastern side of Kathmandu Valley. Arriving before sunrise allows you to watch the first light spread across the surrounding hills and, when the weather is clear, the distant Himalayan range. Nagarkot’s elevated position also provides a peaceful contrast to the busy Kathmandu Valley below.
After enjoying the sunrise, return toward Bhaktapur, one of the historic cities of Kathmandu Valley. Spend the day exploring Bhaktapur Durbar Square, where traditional Newari architecture, palace courtyards, pagoda temples, carved wooden windows, brick-paved streets, and historic monuments provide a strong connection to the valley’s medieval past. Important landmarks include Nyatapola Temple, the Golden Gate, the Palace of 55 Carved Windows, and the surrounding historic squares. You can also experience local Newari delicacies before continuing back to Kathmandu.

Chandragiri Hills and Swayambhunath Sightseeing
